B.J.'s Blessings Memorial Fund
We have all seen them—the lost, the abused, the injured, and the emaciated animals along highways and neighborhoods. Many of us turn our heads, thinking someone else will care for that animal.
B.J. Mishoe has been that someone. She has cared for such animals since childhood, but to a much larger degree, she has been actively involved in animal care over the past several decades. From fostering animals and gathering old sheets to provide comfort to shelter animals to taking items, at her own cost, to owners to help them better care for their pets, B.J. has been a dedicated partner in ensuring the survival of needful animals in Lancaster County.
Ms. Bobbie Jean “B.J.” Turner Mishoe passed peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2023. She was a pillar of our community and a friend to every living creature on earth. In addition to her other endeavors, B.J. had a passion for helping animals in need and volunteered at the Lancaster County Animal Shelter for many years. She was instrumental in starting the county webpage featuring the many lost and found animals housed there. The exposure helped many animals reunite with their owners or be adopted by a new one. B.J. started the first spay and neuter program in Lancaster County, all run by volunteers who devoted their time, money, and energy to making the program run smoothly. She was a true animal lover and housed rescue animals, some of which she kept, including her beloved fur babies, Rusty, Blackjack, and Kiki. She had a loving heart and touched the lives of many in our community and beyond.
B.J.'s family knew she would appreciate a memorial fund in her honor to be used for rescue and shelter animals. Any donation made in B.J.'s memory will be used exclusively for the animals, and you may choose the specific program to which you would like your donation applied. We thank you for remembering B.J. with a one-time or recurring donation to B.J.'s Blessings Memorial Fund.
